Juliet Cook & Darryl Shupe

Spinal Column Nuggets

This barn involves a giant slice of chicken,
the entire spinal column cracked
then swallowed.

Engorged throats stuffed full,
unable to fit anything else in.
Unable to shut.

A display of raw meat burns
then sizzles into
freak show apparitions.

They try to fly away,
but get sucked inside a giant portable fan.

Spit out feathers,
a pail of chicken piss,
and pieces of mechanically separated
chicken heads are all that remain.

Take a bite of each one
to figure out the order
of their demise.
