Location Sharing Sonnet

My dear, that round locket you shared before
your trip across the county has gone gray,
and your location hasn’t updated
on my cell phone’s map for over half a day.
I had taken some solace since you left
tracing the movement of your pretty face
as it slipped from hotel to restaurant
and back through the streets of that foreign place.
No time to call or text except at night,
glancing at my phone was reassuring
with your seminar’s schedule so tight,
your cameo bound within my cell phone’s screen.
But now it would seem there’s no app to chart
the meanderings that define the heart.
